The band recorded Helen’s House as a live trio in an old rented house — called Helen’s House — in Inverness, CA in the spring of 2015. Overdubs and mixes were finalized at Jon and Paul’s home studios in CA and Harry’s studio in PA. The lyrics and narrative themes on the record were hashed out through walks at Point Reyes, and Inverness dinners, and countless emails. Themes and images — foxes and coyotes, hawks and rattlesnakes, Helen and Maria, the blue chevelle, love and regret, loyalty and friendship — became clear as they passed the music back and forth over the following year
